Calvillo Accepted into Oklahoma Bar Association Leadership Academy

When Ruth Calvillo joined Fry & Elder in the spring of 2017, the Tulsa immigration law lawyer knew she would be expected to embrace the acclaimed Oklahoma law firm’s practice of its attorneys seeking out continuing legal education (CLE), professional development and leadership opportunities.

Calvillo has exceeded expectations thus far. The up-and-coming Tulsa immigration law lawyer recently completed the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section Trial Advocacy Institute (OBA FLS TIA) and was one of approximately 25 attorneys in the state to be selected to the 6th Oklahoma Bar Association Leadership Academy which begins in September and runs through April of 2018.

“I feel honored to have been selected to the Oklahoma Bar Association Leadership Academy,” Calvillo said. “I am looking forward to learning from other leaders in the profession as well as attorneys in my class. I hope to learn skills that will allow me to be a role model to law students and other young lawyers.”

Calvillo follows in the footsteps of other Fry & Elder trial lawyers Lorena Rivas (Immigration Law) and T. Luke Barteaux (Family Law and Criminal Law) who completed the Oklahoma Bar Association Leadership Academy in 2014 and 2016.

Oklahoma Bar Association Leadership Academy

“I’m very proud of Ruth and her efforts,” said Rivas, who works directly with Calvillo in the firm’s immigration law department. “It’s a pretty competitive selection process, but it’s a great opportunity and I know she will take a lot away from it.”

In addressing the benefit and value of taking part in the OBA Leadership Academy, the Oklahoma Bar Association said the following on its website:

“The personal and profession benefit you will derive through this unique experience will be immeasurable. You will meet and interact with bar leaders and some of the most accomplished legal and community leaders. You will also be exposed to the legislative and judicial systems; you will interact with high-level state and local officials and judges and meet many attorneys from the private and public sectors.”

Calvillo, who is licensed to practice law in both Oklahoma and California, focuses much of her immigration law practice on advocating for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Fry Jr., other Firm Attorneys Display Characteristics of a “Lawyer’s Lawyer”

The ultimate compliment in any industry is to have your services sought after by your peers. For nearly 50 years, Robert G “Hap” Fry Jr.’s services as a prolific and experienced Tulsa divorce lawyer have been sought out from other Tulsa divorce attorneys and lawyers in general. Simply put: he is regarded by many to be a “lawyer’s lawyer,” along with many other trial lawyers at Fry & Elder.

Lawyer's lawyer

“Going through a divorce and child custody battle is not easy for any party involved,” Fry said. “But it is incredibly rewarding and satisfying to know that fellow attorneys have confidence in you to handle complex legal issues like divorce and child custody affairs. About as big a compliment as an attorney can have is to be considered a lawyer’s lawyer. I feel very honored that fellow attorneys have turned to me for insight and consultation on such personal and life-changing matters.”

The criteria for being a lawyer’s lawyer is not entirely extensive, but the benchmarks are important.

A Lawyer’s Lawyer has a No-Nonsense Approach

A lawyer’s lawyer has a straightforward approach when dealing with clients. They get to the point and assess what the options are – from best to worst – for each divorce and child custody scenario. From there, a good attorney will research and develop the best strategy moving forward for each client.

A Lawyer’s Lawyer has Good Judgement

The hallmark of any good attorney is to incorporate exceptional judgement in-trial and during pre-trial preparation. An established and acclaimed divorce attorney will be the first to say that good judgement is formed through experience and exposure to different legal situations and scenarios. A lawyer’s lawyer is always soaking up information and learning, which will allow the attorney to incorporate the best judgement possible in a timely matter for each client.

Lawyer's lawyer

A Lawyer’s Lawyer has a Stellar Reputation

A good reputation is a by-product of doing exceptional work.

Robert G “Hap” Fry Jr.’s track record as an acclaimed and experienced Tulsa divorce lawyer is rivaled by very few. The Leading legal publication Best Lawyers® named Fry its Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in Tulsa for 2016. He also is one of only 19 attorneys in the state to be a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Fry additionally is AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, a seven-time Best Lawyers® selection and recognized by Super Lawyers® since 2007. Fry also has been the subject of numerous feature articles by Oklahoma media outlets.

Fry not the only Lawyer’s Lawyer at Fry & Elder

While Fry is the most experienced attorney at Fry & Elder, he is far from the only acclaimed attorney at the prestigious Oklahoma law firm, which has been named to the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Law Firm’s list from 2014-2017. Partners James R. Elder, M. Shane Henry and Aaron D. Bundy are also AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®. Henry was named the 2016 Oklahoma Family Law Attorney of the Year by the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section.

Fellow Fry & Elder trial lawyer T. Luke Barteaux became the firm’s first attorney to be sworn in and appointed as a judge. Fry & Elder Oklahoma City lead attorney Allyson Dow is the current Chair of the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section, joining Henry (2014) and Barteaux (2016) as the third Fry & Elder attorney to hold that esteemed title in the past four years. Fry, Henry, Bundy, Barteaux and Dow have all garnered Super Lawyers® accolades.

Additionally, Fry & Elder immigration law attorney Lorena Rivas has emerged as a leading Oklahoma immigration law practitioner. Recent Fry & Elder addition Amy Page focuses much of her practice on child support and worked 17 years for the Department of Human Services before formally joining Fry & Elder in March. Rivas’ Growing Oklahoma Immigration Law Practice Featured

Less than one week after child support attorney Amy Page was featured in the Tulsa Business & Legal News, another Fry & Elder trial lawyer was profiled by the widely-read Oklahoma media publication. Fry & Elder immigration attorney Lorena Rivas, who has become no stranger to the media spotlight, was the subject of a feature story in the Tulsa Business & Legal News last week. The article, which you can READ HERE, was written by long-time legal reporter Ralph Schaefer and focused on Rivas’ thriving and growing Oklahoma immigration law practice from inside the Fry & Elder Tulsa offices.

Oklahoma immigration law attorney

The article highlights the impact Rivas’ Oklahoma immigration law practice has already had on Fry & Elder since joining the prolific Oklahoma firm in the fall of 2015.

Rivas was quoted in the article saying:

“I have helped because while the firm attorneys knew of immigration law, they really didn’t understand it. Now I have exposed them to the trials and complexities — whether it is difficulties with paperwork or the cultural barrier with clients. From a minority perspective, I think it has brought more of a cultural awareness because I was one of two females in at Fry & Elder when I joined the firm.”

A rising star in the world of immigration law, Rivas’ work provides a shining example of how many different legal realms – immigration law and criminal law included – can intersect with family law. Rivas now has a staff of five, which includes new associate Fry & Elder immigration law attorney Ruth Calvillo.

Much of the reason why Rivas’ immigration law services have been in such high-demand and often land her in Dallas courtrooms is because of the immigration policy changes the Trump administration seeks to implement and has already made.

Rivas visited Capitol Hill and met with Oklahoma delegates, including U.S. Representative Tom Cole, during the annual American Immigration Lawyers Association’s National Day of Action. She also held the featured speaking position at a recent Tulsa County Bar Association seminar this past April.

Why Experience the Fry & Elder Difference?

Whether you are in need of immigration legal counsel or consultation in family law, criminal law or personal injury law services, Fry & Elder has experienced and accomplished trial lawyers in place in Tulsa and Oklahoma City to advocate for you. The prestigious Oklahoma law firm has been named to the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Law Firm’s list from 2014-2017. Lorena Rivas Helps Dispel Myths About Immigration Law At TCBA Seminar

The Tulsa County Bar Association held its 27th Annual Free CLE Seminar late last week, and the Fry & Elder presence at the event was strong.

Dispels myths about immigration law

Fry & Elder immigration law attorney Lorena Rivas held the featured speaking position – 1:00-1:50 p.m. – and her presentation “Mythbusters: Dispelling the Myths in Immigration Law” was well received by attorneys and legal personnel throughout the Tulsa area.

The accomplished immigration attorney dispelled 10 myths in regards to Oklahoma immigration law including:

  • A foreigner who is lawfully in the U.S. doesn’t have to worry about their immigration status
  • Deferred sentences and expungements are never seen by immigration officials
  • Someone who has been living in the U.S. for many years and has been U.S. citizen children can’t be removed
  • An employer can easily petition for someone to be able to remain in the U.S.

“I chose this topic to try to clarify some questions attorneys and people may have about immigration law, especially now because immigration is such a hot topic in the current presidential administration and political climate,” Rivas said.

Rivas has become authority figure in Oklahoma immigration law and her Fry & Elder immigration law practice is flourishing.

Earlier this month, Rivas traveled to Washington D.C. to take part in the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s National Day of Action. Rivas was there to advocate for immigration law reform in the U.S., and had a personal meeting with U.S. Representative Tom Cole. She also spoke to U.S. Senators James Inhofe and James Lankford, along with U.S. Representatives Frank Lucas, Markwayne Mullin and James Bridenstine.

Professional development and continuing legal education has long been a point of emphasis for Fry & Elder and its attorneys. In March, Fry & Elder partners M. Shane Henry and Aaron D. Bundy attended the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers® 2017 Midwinter Meeting & Seminar in New Orleans, while Rivas was at the Trial Lawyers College 2017 Georgia Regional Seminar: Direct Examination the same weekend.

“We’re always looking to improve and get better here,” Henry said. “It’s a concept that Lorena and all the other attorneys here at Fry & Elder buy into, and it has allowed us to grow as a firm.”

Experience the Fry & Elder Difference

The growth that Henry alluded to is evident in both the current stature and size of the firm. Fry & Elder now has a presence in Western Oklahoma with Oklahoma City offices. The firm now also has 12 practicing attorneys who concentrate on family law, criminal law and immigration law.

Fry & Elder’s accomplished staff of attorneys includes the Best Lawyers® Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in Tulsa for 2016, the 2016 Oklahoma Family Law Attorney of the Year by the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section, five attorneys who have garnered Super Lawyers® accolades, four attorneys who are AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell® and three of the past four Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section Chairs. Oklahoma Immigration Law Attorney Lorena Rivas Visits Capitol Hill

The American Immigration Lawyers Association’s National Day of Action recently took place in Washington D.C., and the Oklahoma law firm of Fry & Elder was well represented. Fry & Elder’s Lorena Rivas not only attended the event, the accomplished Oklahoma immigration law attorney visited Capitol Hill last week to advocate for necessary reforms to America’s immigration system and to prevent policies that would hurt Oklahoma like mass deportations.

Oklahoma immigration law attorney Lorena Rivas

Rivas spoke to a captivated audience that included U.S. Senators James Inhofe and James Lankford, along with U.S. Representatives Frank Lucas, Markwayne Mullin and James Bridenstine. Rivas’ appearance at the event was highlighted by a personal meeting she had with U.S. Representative Tom Cole.

“I shared examples of real immigrants contributing to our community, and highlighted ways our laws could be reformed to increase our shared prosperity,” Lorena Rivas said from her Fry & Elder Tulsa office. “We need Congress to pass immigration reform that ensures America has smart, fair laws that will keep families together and help build our economy.  Every Oklahoman legislator seemed to understand the importance of immigrant labor and were genuinely concerned with the need of foreign workers.”

Oklahoma immigration law attorney Lorena Rivas

Rivas followed that statement up with a gripping and appealing call to action of Congress:

“When 9 out of 10 Americans support offering a path to citizenship for unauthorized immigrants living and working in our communities, an enforcement-only approach like the one President Trump is advocating isn’t pragmatic,” she said. “We need solutions, not more policies that cost taxpayers billions and don’t improve our national security.

“We all benefit when the best and the brightest from all over the world can come to America, bringing their creativity and innovative spirit and building new industries. Our country deserves a system that works, and to get there we need a comprehensive immigration reform bill. We need Congress to lead on this today.”

Lorena Rivas: A Rising Star in Oklahoma Immigration Law

Though five years removed from law school, Rivas already has established herself as an authority figure in Oklahoma immigration law whose legal prowess is in high demand throughout the state. Rivas provides comprehensive legal representation in the following areas of immigration law:

  • Asylum
  • Business Immigration
  • Citizenship/Naturalization
  • Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
  • Deportation/Removal Defense
  • Family Immigration
  • Fiancé Visa
  • Humanitarian Relief
  • Immigration Consequences of Criminal Activity
  • Special Immigrant Juvenile Status
  • Waivers

In 2016, Rivas was recognized by the Tulsa Business & Legal News as being one of the city’s most accomplished professional women with their annual Women of Distinction Awards.

A native of Mutual, Oklahoma, Rivas is a first-generation American who takes great pride in being able to represent the Oklahoma Latino community as an attorney.

“I’m a Mexican-American,” Lorena Rivas said. “Immigration law is something that is constantly hitting my life, whether it be family members, friends or my clients. In law school, I initially thought I wouldn’t go into immigration law, but I started thinking about it more, and felt like I could make a bigger impact in that area.”

Experience the Fry & Elder Difference

Rivas is just one of many standouts on a Fry & Elder legal team that features five attorneys who have garnered Super Lawyers® accolades, four attorneys who are AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell® and three of the past four Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section Chairs. Collectively, Fry & Elder’s lineup of attorneys, which now totals 12, have helped the firm be named to the prestigious U.S. News & World Report’s Best Law Firm’s list from 2014-2017. Fry & Elder Trial Lawyers Serious About Professional Development

Fry & Elder trial lawyers

The Oklahoma law firm of Fry & Elder was well-represented last week in various pockets of the Southeastern region of the country.

Criminal defense and family law attorneys M. Shane Henry and Aaron D. Bundy took to New Orleans and attended the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers® 2017 Midwinter Meeting & Seminar. Oklahoma immigration law attorney Lorena Rivas, meanwhile, traveled to Braselton, GA and participated the Trial Lawyers College 2017 Georgia Regional Seminar: Direct Examination.

Henry, Bundy and Rivas’ travel excursions for Continuing Legal Education purposes further show the commitment Fry & Elder trial lawyers have in the arena of professional development and training.

“These seminars are important in our development as attorneys,” Bundy said. “There are always new techniques, approaches and things that we can learn, along with ways that we can improve as trial lawyers.”

Bundy and Henry, who are also actively accepting criminal defense, family law and personal injury cases from the newly established Fry & Elder Oklahoma City offices, had a bird-eye view of renown criminal defense attorney Barry Scheck during The VooDoo of Voir Dire.

Scheck is the co-founder of the Innocence Project and was a member of O.J. Simpson’s legal defense team that led to the acquittal of the former football star.

“He’s pretty much a living legend, particularly in the realm of DNA testing,” Bundy said. “He did not disappoint. It was very inspiring and motivating to hear him present. He was the most well-known presenter, but the speaker list was just top-notch all the way through.”

Fry & Elder trial lawyers

Rivas also gained a lot of insight and knowledge from the seminar she attended this past week in North Atlanta which focused on how to convey clients’ and witnesses’ stories in more powerful and impactful ways.

“The conference was extremely helpful and enlightening,” Rivas said. “It made me really discover some untapped sources that I can use to better present my clients’ stories.  I was a unique participant at the conference because all of the participants, except me, were either in criminal defense or plaintiff’s attorneys in civil cases.  I’m pretty sure I may had been the first immigration attorney to attend one of their conferences.”

With President Donald Trump’s pending travel ban and other potential immigration policy changes, Rivas’ immigration law services have been in high demand. She spoke at a recent community form attended by Mexican Consul Rodolpho Quilantan in Tulsa that was spotlighted in the popular Hispanic publication La Semana del Sur.

Immigration Law Attorney Rivas Latest Fry & Elder Lawyer Published

Oklahoma immigration law attorney

The trial lawyers of Fry & Elder must not only be considered some of the most decorated in Oklahoma, they must also be considered some of the most published.

Oklahoma immigration law attorney Lorena Rivas is the latest attorney from the heralded firm to have her work published. Rivas penned the article “To Be, or Not to Be, a Doctor?” in this month’s edition of the Oklahoma Bar Journal – the official publication of the Oklahoma Bar Association.

Featured in the popular “The Back Page” section of the OBJ, Rivas’ article discusses the appropriateness of referring to an attorney as a doctor. While in the United States the notion of this title may seem a bit odd, lawyers are commonly referred to as doctors in Latin America.

As Rivas stated in the article:

“In many countries of Latin America, an attorney is commonly referred to as a doctor — a wise doctor who knows how to navigate the complex legal system and fully advocate for them.”

Known as a rising star in Oklahoma immigration law, Rivas provides context to what it is like being called a doctor through a personal experience with a Peruvian client when she first began practicing as an immigration law attorney.

“She was lost and in fear for her future,” Rivas wrote. “She begged me, ‘Doctora, por favor ayudame. Doctor, please help me.’”

Rivas ended up helping her client and has since been referred to as “doctora” by many other Latin American clients. She closed out the article saying:

“While I still wonder if I am worthy of being called a doctor, the client’s smile and sense of peace confirms that we, as attorneys, do have some type of healing powers, and there is no harm in being called such a name from time to time.”

Being Published Becoming More of the Norm at Fry & Elder

Rivas is just one of many Fry & Elder trial lawyers who have had legal articles published. Fellow Fry & Elder attorneys M. Shane Henry and Aaron D. Bundy penned the article “Show Them Yours” which appears in the current January issue of Tulsa Lawyer Magazine. Bundy and Henry also have wrote three other articles for the Tulsa Lawyer Magazine and another two for the Oklahoma Bar Journal in 2016.

Rivas’ “To Be, or Not to Be, a Doctor?” was the third piece she has had published in legal publications. Rivas also wrote an editorial that was featured in a 2016 June issue of the popular Tulsa Hispanic publication La Semana del Sur.

Experience the Fry & Elder Difference

Fry & Elder has not just established itself as one of the premier law firms in the state, but in the country. The U.S. News & World Report has named Fry & Elder to its Best Law Firms list each of the past four years. Individually, Robert G “Hap” Fry Jr. was named Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in Tulsa for 2016 by Best Lawyers® and he is one of just 19 attorneys in the state of Oklahoma to be named a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Henry, for his efforts, was named the 2016 Oklahoma Family Law Attorney of the Year by the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section, while Aaron D. Bundy and T. Luke Barteaux, along with Fry and Henry also garnered Super Lawyers® accolades in the fall.

Rivas was recognized by the Tulsa Business & Legal News for its annual Women of Distinction Awards in 2016, while Kirsten Bernhardt was counsel in a recent high-profile murder trial. James R. Elder, Katie Egan and Melissa Fell round out a talented team of attorneys. Contact Fry & Elder today.

Dealing With The Holidays And Divorce (Part Two)

Divorcing a narcissist

Divorcing a narcissist is always difficult. It is even more difficult during the holidays. Merriam-Webster defines narcissistic personality disorder as being “characterized especially by an exaggerated sense of self-importance, persistent need for admiration, lack of empathy for others, excessive pride in achievements, and snobbish, disdainful, or patronizing attitude.”

While narcissistic behavior isn’t easy to deal with at any time of the year, it is particularly trying during the holiday season when a narcissist’s traits are even more intensified, bringing with them a greater appetite for attention, control and confrontation. If you are dealing with or are divorcing a narcissist this holiday season, the Tulsa divorce law firm of Fry & Elder empathizes with you and wishes to offer a few tips on how to better navigate through the holidays while separating from or divorcing a narcissist.

Keep Your Cool

As hard as this might be to do, it is imperative, particularly if you are going through a contested divorce or child custody battle, to not fight back with a narcissist. This doesn’t necessarily mean lying down, but it does mean letting things go and not showing vulnerability, which is what narcissists often feed off.

Take Gestures of Kindness and Compassion with a Grain of Salt

If your ex is showing concern for you this holiday season, odds are those gestures are nothing more than manipulative tactics he or she is trying to engage you in. While it may seem like an act of kindness, remember that a narcissist really only truly cares about himself or herself.

Communicate Only When Required

This might seem extreme, especially if you have children, but you will be better off in the long run if you limit lines of communication when at all possible with a narcissist. Co-parenting with a narcissist is at best futile and at worst a disaster. Establish firm but clear boundaries and remember that maintaining them is in the child’s best interests.

Know that a Proven Tulsa Divorce Law Firm is Just a Phone Call Away

For nearly 50 years, the name Fry & Elder has been recognized with elite Tulsa divorce and child custody representation. That reputation has helped the Fry & Elder achieve national recognition as evidenced by the firm making the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Law Firms list each of the past four years.

Fry & Elder attorneys Robert G “Hap” Fry Jr. and M. Shane Henry are experienced and skilled in handling divorce and child custody cases involving a narcissist. Fry named Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in Tulsa for 2016 by Best Lawyers®, while Henry was recognized as the 2016 Oklahoma Family Law Attorney of the Year by the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section. Fry is also one of just of just 19 Oklahoma attorneys to be a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Fry and Henry, along with Aaron D. Bundy and T. Luke Barteaux all garnered Super Lawyers® accolades. Firm attorneys Lorena Rivas and Kirsten Bernhardt are skilled immigration law and guardianship attorneys, respectively, while James R. Elder, Katie Egan and Melissa Fell round out a talented team of attorneys. Contact Fry & Elder today.

Fry & Elder Immigration Law Attorney Rivas Shines at Event

Immigration Law Attorney Lorena Rivas

Less than five years removed from law school, Oklahoma immigration law attorney Lorena Rivas is already considered by many to be an authority figure on immigration law.

Earlier this month the Fry & Elder attorney demonstrated her thorough knowledge and understanding of the complexities of immigration law when Rivas presented at a CLE event hosted by the Tulsa County Bar Association. Her presentation, titled “Immigration Law for the General Practitioner,” was well attended and touched on a number of Oklahoma immigration law issues including trial techniques in immigration cases.

“It was good to educate attorneys on the obscure area of immigration law quickly after the recent presidential election where immigration was such a hot topic,” Rivas said.  “Immigration law is a very complex area of the law that now is reaching more and more the regular practitioner.  It was really nice to see a good size crowd, in which the grand majority were not immigration practitioners.”

Possible Legal Implications for Oklahoma Licensed Professioals

Oklahoma trial lawyers

Simply being involved in any legal action is serious and stressful, but the stakes can be heightened when your job is on the line.

Professionals, such as doctors, lawyers, counselors and police officers, are all regulated and must have a license from the State in order to work in their respective areas. As those professions all have significant educational and training requirements, each professional license is the product of thousands of hours of effort, investment and education.

Professional licenses all have a “requisite moral character” component, and licenses can be placed in jeopardy by allegations of professional or personal misconduct made in protective orders and divorce cases and criminal charges with complaints to the licensing body. If you find yourself going through such a legal issue, it is imperative that you speak with an Oklahoma trial lawyer in a timely matter to discuss the possible implications of what is at stake for you professionally.

The Oklahoma trial lawyers at Fry & Elder represent professionals including lawyers, doctors and police officers in licensure hearings, criminal cases and family law matters. If you have a professional license and are the subject of a complaint, consider the following tips:

  • Contact a lawyer before speaking to an investigator. An attorney can assist you concerning any potential questioning
  • Preserve your records
  • Do not ignore an investigation, regardless whether it is justified or not
  • Do not contact the complainant
  • Do not discuss the complaint publicly, including social media

The trial lawyers at Fry & Elder handle sensitive matters where parental rights, licenses and liberty are at stake.

Why Consider Fry & Elder Oklahoma Trial Lawyers

The Oklahoma trial lawyers of Fry & Elder are not only some of the most decorated in the state, but in the country. This much has been evident in the national recognition the firm has commanded. The U.S. News & World Report recently named the firm to its Best Law Firms list for a fourth consecutive year. Individually, Oklahoma trial lawyers Robert G “Hap” Fry Jr., M. Shane Henry, Aaron D. Bundy and T. Luke Barteaux all garnered Super Lawyers® accolades. Even more impressive is the fact that Fry was named the Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in Tulsa for 2016 by Best Lawyers®, while Henry was just named the 2016 Family Law Attorney of the Year by the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section.

Additionally, Fry & Elder’s Lorena Rivas is one of the most acclaimed Oklahoma immigration law attorneys, while Kirsten Bernhardt has previously won a judgement in excess of $10 million from Coca-Cola and is an accomplished litigator in guardianships, family law and criminal law cases.

In addition to Oklahoma, Fry & Elder attorney Katie Egan is licensed to practice in New York and Connecticut. Melissa Fell focuses much of her practice on the increasingly popular concierge attorney, while partner James R. Elder is one of four Oklahoma trial lawyers at the firm to hold the distinguished AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell®. Contact Fry & Elder today to speak with an experienced and accomplished Oklahoma trial lawyer.
