Tulsa World Spotlights Barteaux’s Acceptance into Leadership Academy

Tulsa Divorce Lawyer

Luke Barteaux

For the second time in as many weeks, up-and-coming Tulsa divorce lawyer Luke Barteaux has been profiled by a major local media outlet. Barteaux, of the renowned Tulsa family law firm Fry & Elder, was the subject of a recent Tulsa World article on the Oklahoma Bar Association 2015-2016 Leadership Academy.

Barteaux was one of just three Tulsa attorneys selected for this Academy, which will total 22 participants statewide from a large pool of applicants. Click HERE to read the article by Ralph Schaefer in the Tulsa World.

Last week, Barteaux was featured in the Tulsa Business & Legal News for his participation and attendance at the Trial Advocacy Institute sessions offered by the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section and how it has helped him professionally in the courtroom. Click HERE to read the article in the Tulsa Business & Legal News.

The Oklahoma Bar Association 2015-2016 Leadership Academy will be the fifth class to graduate and will consist of five sessions – the first of which is slated for September.  Barteaux learned about his acceptance into the academy last month and said this about his inclusion in an earlier BLOG on the Fry & Elder website.

“It’s a great honor,” Barteaux said. “I’ve been very fortunate to work alongside a lot of really experienced and professional lawyers here at Fry & Elder. Their insight and knowledge has been invaluable in helping me develop as an attorney. Tulsa Divorce Lawyer named Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in Tulsa

Best Tulsa Divorce Lawyer

Robert G “Hap” Fry Jr.

For over 35 years, Robert G “Hap” Fry Jr., has been regarded as a premier Tulsa divorce lawyer. Today the Fry & Elder attorney received further validation that he arguably is the best divorce lawyer in Tulsa. Fry was honored by Best Lawyers® as its Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in Tulsa for 2016.

Even for Fry, who has garnered numerous awards and accolades throughout a decorated legal career, this honor is significant. Best Lawyers® is the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession, and the outlet only honors one attorney per year for specific practice areas in each major metropolitan city.

“Best Lawyers is pleased to recognize the 2016 ‘Lawyer of the Year’ recipients,” said Best Lawyers public relations coordinator Katie Morgan. “‘Lawyer of the Year’ honorees receive this award based on their extremely high overall feedback within specific practice areas and metropolitan regions.  There is only one attorney recognized as ‘Lawyer of the Year’ within a given practice area and metro area.  For this reason, the ‘Lawyer of the Year’ award is a significant honor.”

Fry’s award further signifies the big things that are happening with the Tulsa family law firm of Fry & Elder. For the first time since 1981, the firm is slated to operate out of a new building in the fall appropriately named after the well-known Tulsa divorce lawyer – the Robert G Fry Jr. Center for Trial Studies.

Additionally, Fry & Elder attorneys M. Shane Henry, Luke Barteaux and Aaron Bundy have been spotlighted in various publications this month for their expertise and commitment to the legal industry. Whether you are in need of legal counsel in family law, criminal law or personal injury law in Oklahoma, Fry & Elder has a staff of experienced and professional lawyers in place to assist you. Tulsa divorce lawyer offers tips for getting through financial process

Tulsa Divorce Lawyer

Fry & Elder is your Oklahoma Family Law Firm

Going through a divorce is not only mentally taxing, it also is financially trying. This isn’t strictly due to attorney fees, court costs, child custody and alimony; quite often there are many more financial factors that come into play. The Tulsa family law firm of Fry & Elder fully realizes and empathizes with those out there who are going through a divorce in Oklahoma and are undergoing both mental and financial duress. Robert G “Hap” Fry Jr., a renowned Tulsa divorce lawyer, has put together a list of items that those going through a divorce can use as a road map to better assist them in getting through the financial process that comes with going through a divorce in Oklahoma.

Get Team of People You Can Trust on Your Side

Ideally, this needs to start with hiring a proven and experienced Tulsa divorce lawyer, who will better ensure that your best interests are protected. Still, as a valuable as having a premier Tulsa divorce attorney on your side is, you also are going to need to have other people in your corner.  These might include having a certified financial analysis that focuses on handling Oklahoma divorce and child custody issues. It also might mean seeking out a mental health counselor, who can serve as an emotional outlet and backboard for you. Family and friends are always important, but you should be open to turning to other resources and not bending a family member’s ear every time something stressful comes up.

Get Organized

This not only will help you be able tackle the process better, it also will greatly help you with your confidence. Once you are sure you are getting a divorce begin collecting and filling away important financial documents if you already have not begun this process. Typically, these include: Tax Returns, Bank Statements, Credit Card Statements and Retirement Account Balances. Try and go back as far you can when collecting these documents, but at least five years if possible. You also are going to want to pull credit reports on both your spouse and yourself.

Prepare a budget based on your new projected income

This obviously is important for a number of reasons. As you embark on a major life transition, you are going to want to try and put together a detailed budget on what you think your income will be. Don’t automatically assume it will be cut in half, but factor in everything from food, medical, school and travel expenses.

Experience the Fry & Elder Difference

Chances are you have a lot more question and are seeking a lot more answers if you find yourself going through a divorce. This makes it all the more important find an experienced, accomplished and proven Tulsa divorce lawyer. The Tulsa divorce attorneys at Fry & Elder are some of the most reputable not just in Oklahoma, but in the United States.

Fry is widely considered to be one of the most decorated, prominent and accomplished Tulsa divorce and child custody lawyers. He has been named to SuperLawyers® every year since 2007 and is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers™. Fellow Fry & Elder family law attorneys James Elder, M. Shane Henry and Aaron D. Bundy and Fry have each received the esteemed AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, while Luke Barteaux, Bundy and Henry have each been named to the prolific SuperLawyers®Rising Stars™ list.

Behind such an accomplished group of attorneys, Fry & Elder was named to the U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Law Firms for 2015. Contact Fry & Elder today to set up a personal consultation with a qualified and premier Tulsa divorce lawyer.

Things to avoid when selecting a Tulsa divorce lawyer

If you are going through or about to go through a divorce in Oklahoma, the last thing you want to do is pick an inadequate and inexperienced Tulsa divorce lawyer.

While there are numerous family law attorneys out there to choose from, picking a well-established, professional and experienced Tulsa divorce lawyer needs to be a top priority of yours in the beginning stages. By selecting a proven Tulsa divorce lawyer, you will better ensure that your personal and financial needs are being properly protected.

Tulsa Divorce Lawyer

The Oklahoma law firm of Fry & Elder knows the selection process of picking a good Tulsa divorce lawyer can be a difficult one so here are a few tips on how to avoid picking the wrong divorce attorney.

Avoid choosing a lawyer who does not regularly practice family law

There are a lot of attorneys out there who consider themselves to be a jack-of-all-trades attorney. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, family law, particularly cases that involve minor children, often involves a lot of technicalities and strategies that differ from other scopes of law. You will want to hire an attorney who regularly practices family law. Additionally, family law court usually incorporates the same judges. Attorneys who regularly practice family law will have a better sense of the judge’s tendencies and how they rule on particular issues.

Avoid hiring a Tulsa divorce lawyer who doesn’t have time for you

This may seem like common sense, but it a little trickier than that. During your initial consultation with an attorney, he or she is of course going to tell you that they have time for your case and that it will be a priority for them. Here’s a trick. See if this attorney will provide you with his or her cell number to call after business hours or call the office after business hours and see how fast you get a return phone call.

Avoid hiring or even interviewing a lawyer when you are highly emotional

We are emotional people, and emotions often rear their head when going through a divorce or separation. There is just no way around it. Still, even though you need to be proactive in looking for a Tulsa divorce lawyer, you need to make sure your emotions are under control when go in for an initial consultation. This will better ensure that you are able convey all the facts and issues about your divorce that your attorney will need to know to prepare the best legal strategy for you.

Experience the Fry & Elder difference

For over 40 year, Fry & Elder has been synonymous with Oklahoma family law. Tulsa divorce lawyer Robert G “Hap” Fry is considered one of the best in practicing divorce and child custody cases in Oklahoma. He has been named to SuperLawyers® every year since 2007 and is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers™, which means that he is recognized by both the bench and bar as a leading practitioner in the area of matrimonial law.

Additionally Fry & Elder attorneys M. Shane Henry, Luke Barteaux and Aaron Bundy have all been selected as Super Lawyers® Rising Stars™.

The firm was named to the U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Law Firms for 2015 and Fry, James R. Elder, Henry, and Bundy have all received the coveted AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, which Martindale-Hubbell says is, “a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.”

Tips For Selecting A Tulsa Divorce Lawyer

Going through a divorce is not something anyone ever desires to experience. As difficult as going through or making the decision to go through one can be, it is imperative that you navigate through the process with a clear head and a solid game plan. One way to ensure those things happen is by selecting an experienced and accomplished Tulsa divorce lawyer. Fry & Elder offers the following tips for selecting a Tulsa divorce lawyer.

Tips for selecting a Tulsa divorce lawyer

Choosing the right Tulsa divorce lawyer will go a long way in ensuring that both your financial and personal interests are protected. The Tulsa divorce attorneys of Fry & Elder have long been synonymous with Oklahoma family law and wish to provide you with the following tips for selecting a Tulsa divorce lawyer if you are going through or about to go through a divorce and are in need of an attorney.

Identify What You Need

Simply put: not all divorces are equal. Some take little to no time to complete. Maybe you just simply need a mediator to negotiate the financial terms of your divorce. Perhaps your ex and you are candidates for a collaborative divorce, which is a divorce with the goal of preserving the co-parenting relationship and getting through the terms of negotiation. Some divorces, however, require litigation to assure that your interests are protected. Litigation often needs to occur when there is no chance for compromise on certain issues – child custody in particular – making it all the more imperative to select a well-established and experienced Tulsa divorce lawyer.

Do Your Research

Google and the rest of the internet is your friend. Identify a list of 3-4 family law attorneys you would like to potentially meet with, and research their background and qualifications. Most well established Tulsa family law firms and attorneys will have engaging and informative websites, which highlight their experience, accolades and achievements.

Researching these websites will be invaluable in helping you get a better feel and idea for the Tulsa divorce lawyer that is best equipped to handle your divorce.

Be Perceptive To Warning Signs

Upon meeting with a lawyer, keep in mind that while you are going through a life-altering experience, it is business for them. If they are bashing other attorneys or firms, you would be wise to consider that a red flag. The same thing applies if they are constantly distracted by phone calls or emails. While it might be a good sign that they are busy, any client they are personally consulting with them should be their top priority. You should expect the highest level of professionalism from any Tulsa divorce attorney you select.

Experience The Fry & Elder Difference

For over 40 years, Tulsa divorce attorney Robert G “Hap” Fry Jr. has been iconic in Oklahoma family law. His legal expertise has been spotlighted in numerous publications, and he has garnered accolades from SuperLawyers® every year since 2007 and also is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers™, which means that he is recognized by both the bench and bar as a leading practitioner in the area of matrimonial law.

Additionally, Fry and fellow Fry & Elder attorneys M. Shane Henry, Luke Barteaux and  Aaron D. Bundy have all received the coveted AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell®. If you are in need of an accomplished, distinguished, experienced and professional  Tulsa divorce lawyer, contact Fry & Elder today.
