As a practicing attorney since 2005 and an active military service member for over 25 years, Travis Barnett brings keen insight, discipline and a dynamic skill set to Fry & Elder.
Travis further enhances Fry & Elder’s profile as being an elite Tulsa family law firm with his experience in domestic relations which includes the practice areas of divorce, child custody, alimony, paternity and juvenile deprived proceedings.
A current Command Sergeant Major for the National Guard’s 1-160 Field Artillery, Travis has developed a reputation as being one of Oklahoma’s most sought after military attorneys.
Travis has been deployed four separate times, including tour of duties in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has served in Operation Noble Eagle (2003), Operation Katrina Relief (2005), Operation Iraqi Freedom (2007-08) and Operation Enduring Freedom (2011-12)
“I think being in the military gives me a grounded sense of what’s really important and a matter of perspective different from most attorneys,” Travis Barnett said. “I am able to employ strategic and tactical decisions in how to approach a case which, I think, provides reassurance to my clients.”
Much of Travis’ practice at Fry & Elder focuses on military law and how important and complex issues such as the Deployed Parent Visitation Act, Military Child Support, Servicemember Civil Relief Act and how military retirement in a divorce is divided.
Travis earned his juris doctorate from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2004. Before attending law school, Travis received his bachelor of science in criminal science from Ball State University in 2000.
“I think what gravitated me toward family law is the fact that I can really help people and have an impact,” Travis Barnett said. “Fry & Elder has a great reputation and is a well-known law firm. It is just a great opportunity for me to learn and work with some of the best trial lawyers in Tulsa.”
