It wasn’t part of the initial plan yet slowly but surely, Grayson Glover found his way into the legal profession. Fry & Elder’s newest attorney originally wanted to go to law school to get into politics after being mesmerized by the 2016 election season.
“I never really envisioned myself practicing law,” Glover said.“I became obsessed with politics during the 2016 election season and wanted to pivot from my planned major in psychology. Majoring in political science seemed like a good idea, but I didn’t know what people did with that kind of degree.”
After a brief discussion with his father, and then meeting with an alum and practicing attorney from his fraternity at Oklahoma State University, Glover began to realize the possibilities a career in law might have for him.
“A local attorney had us over for a cookout,” Grayson Glover said. “He practices family law and told us all about the types of cases he works, his strategies, and things of that nature. He’s really the one that got me into family law, and it made me start to think that actually practicing law might be my calling.
“My family and I went through a rough divorce when I was young, so family law really appealed to me because it would allow me to help people in families like my own and give them peace of mind while they go through an extemely difficult time. I also felt that, being a child of divorce, I could provide firsthand advice to clients on how to make sure that the divorce minimally impacts the children’s lives. From then on, I knew that family law was something I wanted to do.”
Glover believes his past experiences enable him to better relate and connect with clients because he has been through the same thing many of them are going through.
“It is incredibly important to establish a rapport with your clients,” Glover said. “It really can make the difference between winning and losing.
Fry & Elder managing attorney Simon Harwood thinks the addition will do nothing but bolster the Tulsa law firm’s already talented team of attorneys that include Robert G “Hap” Fry Jr., James Elder, James Morton, Preston Bennett, Zach Mortazavi, Brian Jackson and Harwood.
“He had interned with us for a while and we always wanted him to come on board once he passed the Bar,” Simon Harwood said. “He’s an extremely bright and charismatic attorney who is deeply invested in his clients which we put a premium on at Fry & Elder.”
Glover joins a firm steeped in history. Fry & Elder has been operating in Tulsa since 1932 and has been named to the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Law Firms List every year since 2014.
“To be able work at a firm with so much tradition that is so well respected is an unbelievable opportunity for me,” Grayson Glover said. “The opportunity to learn from and be supported by so many accomplished and knowledgeable attorneys is invaluable.”
Not surprisingly, Glover’s primary focus at Fry & Elder will be family law, specifically but not limited to divorce, paternity, custody, visitation, and child support.
Before joining Fry & Elder, Glover attended the University of Tulsa College of Law where he received his Juris Doctor in 2023. He attended Oklahoma State University where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science in 2020.
