The list of traits that make a good Tulsa trial attorney is not short. The fact is many attributes are needed if one wants to become skilled trial lawyer. Shane Henry and Aaron D Bundy discuss in a recent article they collaborated to write together for the August issue of Tulsa Lawyer Magazine titled “Slowing Down.”
In the article, both Henry and Bundy highlight the importance of being able to effectively speak in front of powerful audiences that include jurors, judges, plaintiffs, defendants, the opposing side’s legal counsel and other trial personnel. But the two Fry & Elder and Tulsa trial attorneys hit on something that for many has become a lost art of public speaking — pausing and being silent.
Because there is so much adrenaline involved with trying a family law, criminal law, personal injury or any other case in court, Henry and Bundy discuss why it’s important to not to speak so fast – to remember to slow down a bit and make your words count. They suggest much of this can be achieved by recognizing the factors that lead to speaking too quickly. They then go on to recommend that incorporating conscious inhaling is an effective tool to combat speaking to quickly – pause, inhale and then move on to the next point you need to make.
